"A dynamic, brilliant teacher"

I was a Geology major in Arts and Sciences when I had the privilege to take a freshman government class with Professor Lowi. He had just published The End of Liberalism, and he was a dynamic, brilliant teacher. I was so inspired that I immediately dropped geology, and became a government major, much to my father’s chagrin.

Many years later, my daughter, Cassandra Robertson, a government major at Cornell, took his class, and on her graduation, we met him in the government tent and introduced ourselves as two generations of his students. It was a lovely moment, and I have never forgotten his impact on my education.
